Los Hogares del Campo/Growing Home: A Community Project & Collaboration with the Center for Community Advocacy (CCA), Salinas, CA

In fall 2015, Angelica Muro and Dionicio Mendoza organized a service learning project with CSUMB students and the Center for Community Advocacy (CCA).  This community-driven project focused on the living conditions of farm workers through video and interviews that highlighted the effects of inadequate housing on health and everyday life. This project facilitated a dialogue about issues of housing inequality in the larger Salinas community (King City to Castroville) through meaningful, thoughtful, and socially engaged student artwork. This project also included a public reception, community dialogue, and a screening of short documentaries at the Center for Community Advocacy in Salinas.
